pre- ghostwood press

i love hardcore boys, i love boys hardcore

This week my mixtape groups’ topic is Super Gay, and we have been talking a lot about diversifying the mixes and keeping with this theme I thought is was only appropriate for me to submit a Limp Wrist song (we haven’t had too much punk rock on these mixes).  Limp Wrist is the current project of Martin Sorrondeguy, former singer of the legendary Los Crudos.  The band also includes Scott Moore, Andrew Martini, and Paul Henry (these guys are ex-members of Hail Mary, Devoid of Faith, and Kill the Man Who Questions).  The band said in Frontiers magazine “We put the ‘core’ back in ‘Queercore’”.

Limp Wrist‘s most recent release was the Wants Us Dead EP that came out in May of 2006, and as far as I know the last shows they played were in the summer of 2007 (these pictures were taken at the Knitting Factory during this small tour). While I love thrashcore, and think that the entire Limp Wrist discography is wonderful…there is no denying that the Want Us Dead EP is some of the best recorded material the band ever produced.  Classic thrashcore with just a little bit of rock n’ roll….oh so good.

One might think a band that most people hasn’t heard from in two years might now be completely defunct, but in fact this Queercore super group actually has recorded a new full legnth that got to see the light of day this week!  Limp Wrist’s new one sided 12″ EP came out on March 10th.  I got the hear a test press of the LP while I was shopping in Academy a couple months ago and it sounded great.  I’m going to try to hunt a copy of this LP down this week…I bet the best bet in NYC is Generation or Academy.

In the mean time here is a track of the aforementioned Wants Us Dead EP:
