harmony and me

Last week klk suggested going to see Harmony and Me, the new movie by Bob Byington.  I’ll be honest I’m not the biggest movie person (although I’m trying to get better, and I think I’m doing an ok job at that), but I like the genre of mumblecore, and this one kind of falls into that category.  So last night we made the effort to catch this film during it’s short run at the MOMA (September 18th-September 24th).

Harmony and Me (a physical comedy about yearning) features Justin Rice (of Bishop Allen), and is a comedy, but still draws strongly from the awkwardness of the mumblecore genre.  It’s a film about love and heartbreak, and portrays this in a humorous way that I feel both fans of mumblecore and comedy in general will enjoy. I’m not a film critic, but I really enjoyed this film and Justin Rice as an actor in general.

Here is the trailer:

Harmony and Me has one more showing at the MOMA tonight, Thursday September 24th, at 8pm. More info can be found here.

If you can make it I recommend checking it out.  I really wish I would have seen this earlier on it’s run at the museum so that I could have posted about it sooner, but I guess better late than never.  If you don’t catch it at the MOMA it will be available on DVD very soon (you can buy it in advance here).
