Greenpoint look out…more record store news!

klk and I were walking down Manhattan Ave yesterday when we stumbled onto a little sandwich board out in front of a new little store between Enid’s and the almighty Three Kings Tattoo. This sandwich board was for Fox and Fawn Vintage (who recently relocated to Greenpoint from the Lower East Side) and Heaven Street Records (check out more photos of the shop here!).

Fox and Fawn is a nice little vintage shop with woman’s clothing in the front and men’s clothing in the back, but if you are looking for the vinyl walk to the back of the shop where the men’s apparel is and you will find Heaven Street Records.

This little record shop has just a couple of shelves right now, but the records that they have are a well curated selection by Sean Ragon.   There was an interesting selection of used LPs and 7″s, as well as some new stuff.  The used LPs were eclectic, reasonably priced, and all seemed to be in excellent condition .  The new records were a combination European Industrial, Wierd Records releases, and what is currently going on in Brooklyn (Sacred Bones was well represented) among other things.   The gentleman working in the back, who I think was Sean, was nice, and told me if I wanted to hear anything to let him know (they had a turntable spinning just a couple feet away).  He also informed me that most of the new records were things that he had recently gotten in, and I assume more will be coming.

The most impressive part about the little record shop was the descriptions of the records.  Every single album had a sticker on the plastic sleeve with a the name of the band/album, the price, and a description of the album.  Totally impressive, and well put together.  This place is obviously run by someone who cares about the vinyl, and the selection they are selling.

A great little addition to neighborhood, and another record store that is dangerously close to where I live.  I’m sure by next week I’ll be back in there at least dropping a couple bucks.
